Q&A with Sandy:

  1. What's your favorite non-work activity, and why?

Volunteering for children’s charity groups (various groups). I love giving back to those in need. It’s what I hope to do when I retire. Someday.

  2. Guilty Pleasure: What can you not live without?  (e.g, Reality TV, specific junk foods, 80’s hair bands, etc.)

Watching Netflix while eating Skinny Pop Popcorn!

  3. If you could eat anywhere for your next meal, where would it be and why?

Any great Sushi restaurant! My favorite is a great spider roll.

  4. What’s one piece of advice you have for a young person in the industry?

Integrity is everything; always be kind and truthful, go the extra mile, keep up with the latest sales trends and technology, and, most importantly, always get back to the customer in a timely manner. Research your customer before a meeting and send handwritten thank you notes.

  5. What is your favorite foodservice trend that you see right now?

Acacia Wood. Acacia Wood. I love the warm, natural tones and that no two boards are alike. They serve or display with natural beauty.

  6. What’s your favorite part of being a MAFSI member?

Learning from sales reps’ perspectives while making new friends, so education and friends.

  7. What’s an obscure fun fact about you?

I love to paint characters on rocks and leave them in the parks for children to find! We have a community page and people will post pictures of the ones that they find, but I never tell anyone if I painted them.

  8. Who is your hero (real or fictional)?

My father. He’s 88 years old and he taught me everything about work ethic. He taught me to listen, give 100%, and never quit. He taught me to talk to, and learn from everyone, and most importantly to not be rigid in my opinions if someone puts up a good debate that is well thought out with a strategy and solid information.

As we all know, there’s considerably more to MAFSI members than being a rep or manufacturer, and we want other members to know about it!

Are you passionate about a particular philanthropic cause? Are you a huge foodie? Maybe you’re an avid skydiver? Whatever it is – we want to know about it — and SEE you doing it!
